Hello, Emotional Micha!

Oh, friends. Let’s be honest here:

Filling our last week in SF with final events

Watching my son say goodbye to his teachers and friends

Trying to pack our stuff

Planning two parties on Friday

My little boy turning 3

Emotional Micha

Here’s what you should know:

  • Emotional Micha has a lot of things to write but no time to write them down. Instead she forcefully picks toys off her son’s carpet while crying dramatically to her husband: “There’s never enough time!”
  • Emotional Micha will not be posting again this week. Instead she will be planning the two parties she’s hosting the day before movers arrive at her door.
  • Emotional Micha is an extrovert. That’s why she plans parties the day before she moves. Because she really, truly thinks that the best way to spend her last night in San Francisco is by throwing a party. And she’s right. (She just forgot to think about the details. As per usual.)
  • Emotional Micha is crying every time she talks about 1) moving, 2) loving her friends, 3) loving her church, 4) loving her children, 5) loving her husband. So, basically, don’t ask her about moving and/or love.
  • Emotional Micha will write all the posts she’s been storing up in her little heart and will post them next week.

Until then, I’ll be failing at keeping it together.

  1. Ah…I remember emotional Micha. Two decades ago, it was sack lunches and egg timers. Now it’s moving and love. Look at you. You’re growing up!

  2. hi emotional micha,
I have only recently discovered your lovely blog via my sister in law, Nancy Filkin, from delaware. I think you may have known her at one time. In any case, I am sorry you are moving because I live just across the bay in Oakland and wish I had had a chance to meet you. I have visited City Church and am a part of a church plant in Oakland, but still a member at First Pres Berkeley. Your posts are thoughtful and fun and I will of course continue to follow you. I wish you well in your move. In my opinion, it is very difficult to move anywhere, even across the street, and this move is a BIG. Blessings as you make this transition. May God bless you in all you do, bringing new friends your way and continue to enrich you family’s life together.

I love emotional Micha and you can’t stop me! xocaq

  4. Love, love this. Enjoy your parties – take a big, big breath and move on out into the next wonderful thing that’s coming. Yes, it is.

    Hi Emotional Micha,
I’m Nightowl Steph (and by the way we have a lot in common but that’s for another time). You do not know me but I can so relate with your thinking. Throw those parties and have bang up job at it. Who cares about the crushed cheerios or goldfish or [fill in the blank]…or maybe it’s the unpacked boxes (just throw them in and don’t label; it’ll be fine and perhaps a little treasure hunt when you’re unpacking). But seriously, from one former YL staff lady to another, you enjoy your time saying goodbye and cry all you want. Remember, “It’s your party and you can cry if you want to.” Just make sure you take lots of photos (perhaps not of the crying, but of the festivities!). Blessings dear sister!
